Ann Sturley has been photographing her environment since childhood. She bought her first single-lens reflex camera in college and has photographed nature, people, and life around the world.
Ann likes to use photography to look at subjects in new, ever-changing ways. She also enjoys exploring the artistic manipulation of images in Photoshop and is especially intrigued by the process of creating beauty out of ordinary objects.
Some of her works are made in the shape of a mandala, similar to what is seen when looking through a kaleidoscope. In both Hindu and Buddhist meditation, the mandala is used as a focusing device. It is also a blueprint of the home of a Bodhisattva or Buddha, and thus, shows a new way of viewing the world.
Ann also enjoys travel photography, having had many chances to record her surroundings while living in Africa, Asia, Hawaii and elsewhere. She occasionally photographs events and loves to create portraits of friends and clients.
Her photography has been exhibited in the San Diego area and has won awards at the International Exhibition of Photography in Del Mar.
